Happy Valentines Day!

Update on Nick
We found out what was up with the little dude and unfortunately he has his very first ear infection. And if that wasn't bad enough, it is a double ear infection! No wonder he was so upset! We went to urgent care Sunday and got him on antibiotics right away. It was a little scary for a while - he was getting very dehydrated from a combo of not eating/drinking cause it hurt his poor ears to swallow and the side-effects from the antibiotics (the little fluid he was taking went right though him). But, I'm happy to report he is feeling much better today.

It appears we will be updating this once a month - at least that is the rate we're currently at. This past month has been hectic. After dealing with the auto accident and car rentals and insurance companies, I've been pretty busy with work. Tim started a new job at work and with any new job there is always some level of stress when first learning your way.

Unfortunately this has not been the best month for little Nick - he has been really hit hard with all of the virus's going around. It seems he just gets over one and then he's sick again. This week was particularly bad - at the doctor Wednesday morning for his barking cough - that went away by Friday. But it was replaced with a fever. No daycare on Friday so Tim and I split the day, Tim worked in the morning and I worked in the afternoon. Valentines day greeted us with a bit of a scare - Nick's fever shot up to 104. We were able to get it to come down with Tylenol and cool baths....and it's stayed down, for now. So they Rymans are taking it easy at home this Valentines day, keeping a close eye on Nicholas.

But this has also been a month full of development and growth. Nick's becoming more of a little boy and less of a baby every day. He imitates things he sees and hears - he loves to clap at everything and he's learned how to wave. He's also said "Dada" and "Uh-oh" when prompted. We're still working on "mama." When he smiles we're greeted by big teeth - five of them now.

We also started swimming lessons last week. Nick's taking the class with cousin Ali. It took Nick a few minutes to get used to the water - but then he did really good. We had him floating around the pool on his back and his belly. We learned that swim diapers do serve their purpose - Nick had a big poop at the end of the lesson - but the swim diaper contained it all! Whoo-hoo.

We were sick of the cold and staying indoors so we took a trip down to the MN Zoo last Saturday. Nick loved the tropics trail, and so did we. For a few hours it felt like summer.

I've got some random photos from the past month posted below. Enjoy.

Here's what happens when Nick doesn't eat all his dinner - Scooter is more than happy to jump up and finish it up for him. (and you all wonder why we call this one the naughty cat)
Nicholas after a bath and after dad thought it would be funny to make him a little Alfalfa.

Here's one of "snotty" Nick. This is how the poor little guy has looked half of this month. =(
Uncle Jon can always get a laugh out of him.
Uncle Jon and Aunt Jill - who just became proud parents themselves today..... We haven't yet seen the little guy - but they are currently driving home from South Dakota, where they picked up a 12 week old, 25 pound little Great Dane puppy. Good luck with your baby horse guys!
